We need your support

Medical Research Scotland was set up in 1953. Since then, it has awarded more than £32 million in grants for research in Scotland. One of its earliest grants was to Professor Ian Donald, for his pioneering work on obstetric ultrasound. The grants we're making today will have similarly long-lasting benefits for future generations. You can read about the work being done by more recent recipients of our grants by following the links on the left, or in our Annual Reports & Reviews

Join them in Supporting Us

  • Through single or regular tax-efficient donations, using Gift Aid.
  • By specifying in your Will that Medical Research Scotland should be a beneficiary (we can provide your solicitor with an appropriate form of wording if required).

If you decide to make a donation, we will ensure that your wishes for the use of your money will be fulfilled.

You can be specific if you wish

We support research into the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of all diseases, we're not restricted to supporting any specific one. Your gift to us will be of most value if you don't specify a particular disease, but if you would prefer to be specific, then you can be assured that we will comply with your wishes.

Our endowment fund is split into a general fund, which we can use for supporting research into any disease and additional separate funds, which are earmarked for research into the following:

  • Neurological diseases
  • Cancer
  • Arthritis
  • Diabetes
  • Kidney diseases
  • Cardiac & Vascular diseases
